ASSIGNMENT 4: DRAWING OUT OF THE FLATLAND
ARCS1005: DRAWING
INSTRUCTOR: FEDERICA GOFFI
In Threes draws parallels between the design process and the anatomy of a tree, drawing inspiration from the work of in-house artist, MC Escher. The success of a tree is determined by the quality of its growing conditions, similarly to how people are shaped by their surrounding environment. Varying amounts of light exposure in the parts of the tree is also translated into the light exposure at each section of the model. The workshop contains irrational forms with the intent of representing the conceptual stage of design. The greenhouse houses a desk which marks the point of the design process where ideas are brought to paper. The gallery represents the materiality of ideas through arch forms.
